COVID Vaccine : Hi everyone, I am due...

Do you know which jab you're having? Any side effects may not be identical. I know a couple of people who have had the Pfizer version and they both had sore arms for a day or so, nothing else.

Hi there Gio321 I have not received it, but my 94 year old father has. My husband and me took my father to have the first vaccine just before Christmas. He has had both Pfizer jabs. Both lots of vaccines have had no significant effects on him, and after a bit of a sore arm and feeling a bit off three days after the second jab, a bit like the flu jab for him, he’s doing really well. My feelings are the sooner I can have the vaccine the better.

Mr. Lytham had a sore arm and felt very mild flu symptoms the following day and that was it x

Hello Gio321, I haven't had mine yet, due it on Feb 2nd, but my mother an father in law have both had both of theirs and no side effects. My DIL also had her first one on Sat and was fine,

I haven't been too well to be honest for a day or so, but everyone is different and if you have been offered the vaccine its probably better to have the side effects, if any of the vaccine than from the virus. I have had a few days off work but feeling better now, others have had no more than a sore arm for a day or so xx

Hi. I had the Pfizer jab last week and only side effect was a slightly tender arm, nothing else. I am now expecting to get the 2nd one in a few weeks hopefully.

Having had Covid 19 and then the vaccine , I would definitely go for the vaccine! My arm ached and I ran a mild temp for 48 hours and felt tired. I presume that my previous antibodies were getting some exercise!

hello I have had training in preparation to give the covid vaccine- as slipstick said sore arm is common, and usual vaccine reactions which are mild aches and flu like symptoms for a couple of days which is common with all vaccines irrespective for what disease its for. Headache is a common side effect but drinking plenty of water and paracetamol should help with that and again only lasts for a couple of days. My parents whop are in their late 80s and 90 had no issues at all and a colleague got a rash which resolved quickly. Hope that helps

Can I be cheeky and ask, have you known anyone that has been vaccinated that has suffered anaphylaxis in the past? Obviously when I’m invited I would have the vaccine however I must admit I do feel a tad nervous due to having asthma that’s not too controlled at the moment and having had two life threatening anaphylactic shocks.

Hi They do say if you have multiple allergies you should probably have the Oxford vaccine rather than the Pfizer. What I would do when you get the call to attend ring them and let them know about your allergies and anaphylaxis and they can guide you- or speak to your GP in advance then he can put on your records if you need to have a specific vaccine since I assume the vaccine organisers for your area are in contact with local GPs to identify people entitled to the current roll out

Oh thank you so much for your reply, yes my allergy is written in big letters on my medical records due to the severity, I do share my medical record due to anaphylaxis as it is a disinfectant I’m allergic to. I know I am normally at risk in dentists, hospital and now even in shops due to covid as they are likely to be wiping down areas with this common ingredient that I am allergic too. Hand gels are a no no in our house just plain soap for me😂

Only at the minute,😂 I’m terrible if I go to hospital or dentists etc. I am like a detective what’s in that??I probably sound weird but it keeps me safe. I carry a card with what I am allergic to, plus one for blood, I am unique, keep telling my husband that but not sure he believes it.😂😂

Having heard stories from colleagues about unpleasant side effects and how unwell they felt, I was almost put off getting the jab. Thankfully, I had the first dose of the Oxford jab last Saturday. The only side effect I had was feeling more sleepy early evening and had the best night's sleep in ages. Expected a sore arm too but that didn't materialise. 😊

I know a couple of ladies had the jab. Nothing worse than a sore arm for either.

My friend took it 3 days ago, she was immediately feeling really ill, like with flu, and completely wiped out. Today she is ringing her GP

Oh gosh! The poor thing! Hope she comes around a bit today.

I'm just having a look on here as having my first jab this afternoon. Will let you know how it goes x

Hi, I had my first jab just before Christmas day - all fine apart from sore arm. 2nd jab was on Tuesday. On Tuesday night I had night sweats and flu symptoms all of yesterday making me not well enough to work. Bit rough this morning but now better. Older people, as in elderly, don't seem to suffer effects due to generally lower immune system, but younger ones can. Few of my colleagues were rough after 2nd jab and some were fine. My advice would be to not plan any work for the next day 😬. Id do it again in a heartbeat.

My DH has had both Pfizer shots...second over a week ago and he was fine after both. Less sore than flu he said :o)

BTW he said the needle itself was totally painless, I guess because it's a tiny amount?

I had Pfizer about a week ago. I had very very mild flu symptoms that evening. Felt totally well the next morning. Totally worth it.

Sore arm for a day or two as well.

I had my vaccine yesterday. From hindsight of few of my colleagues that had serious side effects, I started drinking plenty of water and taking Paracetamol straightaway with 3 doses so far. Felt a bit rough this morning however managed to pull through and made it to work by midday.

Hi Gio321. I had first jab of Pfizer one last Friday in work. I was fine straight after but woke up next morning and arm was sore and remained tender and achy for rest of day. Was grand by Sunday.

I have had the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine just under two weeks ago, arm was sore for about 48 hrs but no worse than the annual flu jab. Other than that no other side effects.Good luck 🍀

My arm aches a bit but paracetamol sorted that out..... now much better!

Hello everyone, can you tell me if you get some sort of certificate or something that documents the dates and type of your injections? Have you been given some form of proof that you have had the vaccine? Yvonne

You get given a card that has your vaccine batch number and date you had the vaccine on, and they write underneath when you should book in for your second dose And I think they record you've had a jab under your NHS number

Thanks for replying, so is that card more like an appointment card, handwritten? Does it have a signature or a stamp? Have they given the card any importance, like " make sure to keep it safe, you may need to show it to prove you've had the jab", that sort of thing. Thanks, Yvonne

I've had the Pfizer one and had a sore arm for a day but nothing else One of my friends had some muscle aches and a headache but was fine with some paracetamol.

Thanks for the replies guys..much appreciated! I had the first shot Thursday and all good since. A bit of a sore arm the morning after but that was it. Hopefully the second shit will be smooth sailing too.

My mum-next-door has had 2 doses of the first one approved. After the first one she had a niggly headache and felt a but queasy for the rest of the day. After the booster she felt like that for a full 24 hours. But so glad she had it. Had to educate her after though, as she hadn't realised that while she is now protected from serious illness, she can still catch and spread the virus. But definitely no really bad side effects

Just to follow-up from my reply a few days ago - I've now had the vaccine (Thursday) and can let you know that I had a slightly sore arm with redness that mainly hurt when pressure was applied. That's all
