First time posting, 5 weeks in

Hi all. I’m onto my sixth week and I’ve lost 3 lb in total and 1 1/2 inches. I’ve also kept up with the active 10’s most days. During that time we’ve had downtime (to replace holidays) plus it was my birthday and we had family visit at various times, so I’m happy with the loss so far. Next week we are on holiday proper and will be eating out a lot as well as doing more walking. Does the app allow for just suspending the diet for a week or extending it beyond the 12 weeks? I suspect I may regain some of the loss. Thanks all x

Hello and welcome to the weight loss forum. Please have a good read of the Pinned Post “Welcome Newbies”. healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

This is a very large community with lots going on. May I suggest you use the webpage as opposed to the app at least until you know your way around. Take your time and follow every thread so that you know exactly what’s going on.

Here’s the link for a “Tour” of the forum ,if you haven’t already taken it.

As you are following the NHS plan please check your BMI on the NHS site and obtain the correct amount of calories for you.

as far as I know, the NHS app doesn't allow for hollidays etc but I've seen many members beginning again after the 1st 12 weeks.

The Daily Diary and the Weekly Weigh ins are very good places to begin. You will find the DD and WI in the Pinned Posts under “Events”

I find the Daily Diary a very good place to share my plans and get inspiration from other members, too. Once the day’s food is written down I’m far more likely to stay on track.

The key to success is participation, we are all on the same journey.

If you can’t find something just shout, there’s usually someone around.

I hope to “see” you around, Good Luck.🍀😉

Thank you. I’m using my fit bit to track my food and totally agree that recording it is a huge help. According to the nhs BMITracker I could actually be eating more but maybe their idea of active is different to mine. I’m pretty sure from recent experience it wouldn’t really aid in weight loss. I’m trying to keep around 1400 with the occasional 1500 day but when that goes up so does the weight. J shall definitely be restarting after this 12 weeks because whilst the tracker says to lose 9 lb I’d rather lose a stone or more and I’ll still be over 25bmi

You're welcome Callyv , my only suggestion is that you watch what you eat as opposed to how much you eat. Here's a link which will explain it.

I’ve been following the clever guts diet since the start of lockdown which is probably how I’ve not actually gained any weight. Disappointingly I couldn’t lose on it and there no way I can cope with fasting or skipping meals so had to start counting calories

Hello and welcome Cally, and very well done on excellent results so far 😊👏🎉

As TheTabbyCat has said, it’s not so much a question of pausing the healthy eating as extending it, the best way to lose weight and keep it off is to make permanent change 😊

With regards to calorie counting, you may find this post helpful about different types of calories and how they affect fat storage healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Have a good holiday but, perhaps just be mindful? I doubt you will be able to eat the way you used to, and we will see you when you get back

Best wishes

Indigo 😊
