Private medical?

Good morning all,

Anyone have experience of private health insurance. Who is better, what sort of questions should I be asking them. I want to loose weight and exercise, I know some service providers are better.

I work abroad, so private is a must. Local is not so good. I saw leeches in local pharmacy, cyanne pepper used to stop bleeding etc. No pain killers, no safety procaughtions here.

So I want private. As well I am chicken and want English speaking doctors. So anyone know a good international provider?

Hi peskymousie1, I can't help you, but my feeling is that it's going to depend a lot on the country. You can usually find forums for people living abroad, they might have more experience with this

Sorry, I can't help you either. Your English speaking contacts there might be your best bet.

I'm wondering what sort of medical help you want, with regard to weight loss. Doctors learn very little about nutrition in their training so aren't always best placed to advise. What ideas have you developed in your time here? Are you getting to grips with the food options yet? As that is a major issue for you - lack of choice - I'm not sure how medical advice can help with that

I should have said, for your benefit and others, do take care that any suggestions are from independent sources, not anyone with a commercial interest

Thank you for the advise

Perhaps your work colleagues can recommend one?

The other staff here all speak Russian and Azeri. They do not understand me

Oh dear, that must be very difficult.

Hello and welcome, Wenderwoo 😊

I see you're doing C25K. Hope you're enjoying it. We have a Tortoise and Hare Club here, for runners of any distance, speed and experience so you might like to check that out. When it comes to weight loss, though, what and how we eat is far more significant.

Would it be worth contacting the big providers here and see if they do international cover or can point you in the direction of someone who does? If you don't speak the language and your work colleagues don't speak English it sounds like you have a bit of a problem. Does the company you work for offer any health cover for people in your situation? Some international companies have cover with the big providers.

Nope, I am a governess. I work for a private family. Here in compound we have drivers, nannies, cooks, housekeepers, cleaners and security etc. None of which are familiar with English.

I know a few companies. But you know at 560 pounds a month. I want to be sure of them. Since I have to pay.
