A contradiction in terms

Hello all, tonight I was thinking of what a contradiction I am. I'm happy, have a positive attitude, know about healthy eating and the importance of exercise, will always give anyone an ear to listen, a shoulder for support and a positive word when needed, nothing much ever brings me down. And yet, for at a few moments everyday I rebel against myself. I hate the fact I've no real will power, I have belly apron as all my weight is on my stomach, that even though I'll eat healthy and exercise I reach for the bag of m&ms eat the lot and say I'll start again tomorrow. That I hear my voice loud and clear state This is me, there's nothing wrong with you, it's time you except yourself, but I'm 42 have been t2d for over 10 years & in the last three years have had 2 heart attacks first one at the gym. Then I'm back to myself with the m&ms damage done. I tell people to retrain themselves in the way they eat, and I have in a lot of ways but this last bit of weight I just can't shift ( 13.5 stone at 5.7 in height)

Back to the gym tomorrow being my normal happy self 😊 thank you for listening ❤️❤️

You always have a packet with you or in your house?

There's always a packet in the house or something that is chocolate as I suffer from hypo's and sugars drop very low needing instant hit, sugary drinks give me acid so there a no no

Mr B was advised that the glucose hit from a piece of toast/bread would be faster into the bloodstream than the hit from sugar. Depends if you have bread in the house though.

I do always have bread in house, but shake from my toes to my teeth finding it hard to make anything, I also still find them frightening as I can't control my body or speak without biting the

Insides of my mouth 😬 but will try that, thank you for advice ❤️

If you didn't have them at home would it help?

What about glucose tablets? My father-in-law uses them for his hypo’s, and they’re not as addictive as M&M’s. Just a thought 🤔

Just a thought - have you talked to your GP about this, as I am wondering whether your insulin levels are spiking, and this is affecting you. It really sounds as if you are suffering. 😕

Been like this for years Hun, my insulin changes if I exercise or if I don't want a supper. The only advice from doc was to play around with insulin until I found a happy medium ( don't you love certain gps ha)

Purely what Mr B was advised, which he started from and we’ve tweaked and made it work. 130g carbs a day, spread evenly through the day. If taking more vigorous exercise, he might tweak to take more carbs the meal before as he knows he’s going to shift the glucose. But he doesn’t skip meals - doesn’t suit.

I’d try a different GP. You would be better for it being sorted. 🙂

Heya JOPAT111! In my experience, it is completely normal to feel the urge to snack sometimes even if you know it's the wrong thing to do! We all have our off days and that's nothing to feel any shame about; what's important is that you can stay happy in yourself and eat healthily as much as you can! We all support you and want you to do well!
