Finally found IT!

Whatever it is? You know the frame of mind when you can seriously try to lose weight. I’ve yo-yoed all my life and now I’m the heaviest I’ve been for years but I’m determined to lose a couple of stones!! I’m disabled now so exercise is almost impossible apart of course from “Jaw Exercise” !! Write everything down seems to be the only way, any other ideas would be most welcome!

Welcome Anitajean57 Glad to hear you're feeling so motivated, it's a good feeling to have and to hang on to.

Have a shuftie at the NHS 12 week plan, which many of us here are following. It allows for people who can only exercise their jaw :) ...

An admin will reply shortly with an official welcome and a link to more :O information. Don't worry about trying to absorb it all at once as each step in the right direction is a good one.

Good luck!

There are many in a similar situation as you, but choosing what you are eating is the biggest part of weight loss.. Exercise is good too, but not always essential depending on ability.

Hi and welcome Anitajean57 the amount of food you eat is the main cause of weight loss (or gain) rather than exercise. We have people who are disabled and wheelchair bound or due to medical conditions which seriously restricts there ability to mobilise/exercise, but they still loose weight. If you use the NHS BMI calculator it factors in your exercise level to give you an upper and lower range of calories to loose weight, so don't be too concerned about do exercise. Anything that makes you feel warm and slightly breathless, whether its walking, gardening and housework is classed as exercise. I lost weight and I mainly walk, occasionally garden and do housework as well as Wii game exercises. There are exercises on the NHS Living Well web page and some of those may be suitable for you
