Busy Bee Challenge Entry (Week 3)

Hi IndigoBlue61 ,

Here is my entry for Week 3 of the Busy Bee Challenge - and it represents my love of cooking - and I hope it's a humorous entry - tongue in cheek - regarding 'Kitchen Queen'. :-) I have also put a photo of some of my Recipe books, which I enjoy using. I also make use of the local Library too - as well as online resources, to source some recipes.

I still end up cooking some of the same meals again and again - but I keep striving to find new recipes to widen my repertoire - and it is fun to do.

Hi Zest, the photos are fab, I have a old Indian cook book and various other ones, I should follow your example and use them.

The kitchen is smelling nice and I think it is mince and lots of vegetables, green cabbage.

I'm glad that we have taken the rabbit in, as very cold, I'm sure that he would be ok as a good cozy hutch with three compartments.

Thanks for your lovely reply - and I hope you find some lovely recipes in your old Indian Cookbook - that sounds great. :-) That's the other great thing about cooking - how wonderful the kitchen can smell - lots of lovely aromas. Sounds like you're cooking up a great meal. :-)

Your Rabbit's home sounds really cosy - although I feel sure he/she is equally happy in with you - probably very happy for the company.

Thanks so much - but I am happy to share the Kitchen Queen tiara/Crown, or rather 'oven gloves' - I think there are lots of amazing Cooks in the forums. Not to mention all the Kitchen Kings! :-)

Great entry. I wish I was an imaginative cook instead of a reincarnation of Ria from Butterflies! I'm afraid that reference will be lost on anyone not old enough to remember the programme. However I don't think the implication that I am not Gods gift to the culinary world will be lost on anyone😔

wa2un7 I remember that programme ...... and can still see the scenes where her husband and two boys were gagging on what she had cooked :)

In my defence, I'm not too terrible a baker. Hubby says that's why he's kept me for 56 years instead of trading me in for a new model.😂.

I used to enjoy watching 'Butterflies' and I remember Ria well - I know you're good at baking, as I've read your message further down the post, so don't be harsh on yourself - I bet you're great at quite a few culinary things. :-) Your hubby clearly appreciates you!

Really enjoyed having look at your recipe book titles. I read recipe books instead of novels, I think they are much better.

Yes, me too! I love reading recipe books - they are so colourful and some of the newer ones tend to have more information in them and that is nice.

Appreciate your confidence in my Kitchen Queen abilities. I am getting better. :-)

Lovely entry Zest and I am with you totally on the love of cooking 😊. It’s a bit of a mission of mine to educate people that it is possible t9menhoy food and cooking AND be healthy and lose weight 😊

Thanks so much for those lovely points, and your nice reply. I was going to look up 't9menhoy' food (as that sounds very interesting...) but I think you meant to say 'to enjoy' and it was a typo - but it could have been a new cuisine... :-)

Great entry Zest , I am sure you have earned your title of kitchen queen. I love cookery books. Who is the Lower Cholesterol one by? My Hubby has high cholesterol and it is something that I need to tackle as he won't.

Hi lucigret ,

Thank you! Yes, I love cookery books too - the "Eat Your Way to Lower Cholesterol" one is by Ian Marber (nutrition expert) and Dr Laura Corr (Consultant Cardiologist), and the back of the book says "this book will show you how to effectively incorporate the six foods into your diet and lower cholesterol by up to 20 per cent in just three months' - and it lists those six foods as being 1) fibre; 2) healthy oils; 3) soya; 4) nuts; 5) oats and 6) smart foods (some of those are branded stuff that contain sterols, but they also point out natural sources of sterols such as broccoli). Hope that's helpful. :-)
