Day 9

Still plodding on!

I used to eat until I'd almost vomit at times. I ate and ate when I didn't want to.

Eating £10 of junk daily. This was after stopping drinking and drugs.

I gave up drinking for 5 years once but just ate and ate.

I think my eating is connected to child hood trauma where I was hurt by men who were trusted to care. In the 70s there were to many of these men in my life.

But I'm 52 now and for the first time ever understand the connection with food. I have eaten in a self harm type of way so I'm trying to be kind to myself now.

I don't know who will read this but I am really happy for all on this site.

Day 9 without going mad with food is wonderful.

Thanks

Fabulous work. There is great support on here for all of us. Interesting to see the variety of people's lives out there - and, this site brings us all together for support.

Keep going! In many ways I think your lightbulb moment is not so much losing weight as understanding and dealing with past trauma. People deal with this in very different ways and i absolutely admire you for being brave and putting pen to paper here. So now you can start dealing with that and healing from that (professional help needed? I have no experience here, just random thoughts sorry), the weight loss will follow for you as a result of seeing, this emotion-trauma-emotion-trauma-food connection.

Brilliant for you, well done.

Forgot to mention. I could make myself sick on a lot less than £10 I was the roast potato princess. I've never told anyone that before beth

I agree completely - being able to share my weird patterns around food has made me feel less alone in my own crazy. And that helps to break the viscous cycle.

For me a massive lesson has been that I can't pro-actively eat away a food craving - I can't binge away and promise never again. I have to shake my head at how many times I eat everything that isn't nailed down because 'tomorrow the diet starts'.

So well done and please share your insights around your own thoughts and patterns - that will help others and myself as well.
