HELP! Need to loose 15-20Kg in 4 months.

Hello Everyone,

I hope you are all well and healthy! I really really need some help. All my life I had indian food diet. It wasn't until yesterday when I pulled out my Size 14 UK Skinny Jeans, which i could get through my thighs, I realized how much weight I have put on. I currently weight 73 Kg, 5ft 5 tall and now a UK size 14/16.

I have cried a bucket but I know that isnt gona shed any pounds, so I have decided to start my journey of changing my lifestyle. I do not believe in crash diets as I have seen my friends put all the weight back after their special ocassion is over.

I have started incorporating more protein in my diet and veggies(which i would previously never ever touch unless it was a veggie curry...the struggle is real here but I am trying). However, my main weakness is bread! Bread oh bread, all my life i have had 2 slices of bread in breakfast with omelette, 2 in lunch as sandwiches and a homemade chapatti (flatbread) for dinner with curry. I do not know what to do, i do not feel full nor I enjoy my meal if I don't have my bread. P.s I do eat brown bread only. Oh and like average briton, I have a sweet tooth as well but I am REALLY trying to cut down on cakes, chocolates and crisps. I have made it a reward so if i have eaten healthy all day I will treat my self to a sweetie or a chunk of chocolate.

Exercise wise, I have downloaded full body home workout videos. I did one yesterday and today i cannot lift my arm, nor can I go down the stairs. But that makes me happy atleast I worked out.

Today is only day two of this long journey. I would appreciate any help you guys have to offer. Has anyone lost 15kg in 4 months? IF so how? Please help.

Love Rimsha xx

Hello Rimxx and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum

Please don't cry. Your BMI is 26.7 which is only just in the overweight category somalthohg your are unhappy about your size, it is not going to be mega deal to rectify. However, to try to lose 4-5 kg per month is a little ambitious! If you could lose 500g per week, you would be at a healthy weight very quickly.

From what you are saying, you know where you are going wrong, and the biggest issue is sweet things. Bread isn't especially bad but you are perhaps having a little too much.

I firmly believe that some knowledge of calories is essential for successful weight loss, so please read all the links below 😊

Here are a few suggestions on how to get the most out of the forum. Please note if you are using the new HU App many of these features are not available so I suggest you use the full website version.

The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you. Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news

Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate

The forum also have group weigh-ins every day, as well as a new Daily Diary, if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page. And if you just want to chat, to say hello or share any news or struggles then look out for What's Happening Today thread.

You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you have a 'Newbie' badge. We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too. If you have any questions please just ask

Best wishes

Hello Rimxx - Good luck and welcome to the forum :)

In my opinion, loosing 15-20kg seems really ambitious in that amount of time, (also, 20kg is quite allot if you're only 73kg now? )and I think it may be detrimental in the long run, if you find you're not going down as quickly as you'd like too. At least, that's how I found it, and when I wasn't dropping kg's each week I struggled to see the 'point'.

Until, I decided a weight/goal I wanted to be, and stopped focusing on how much I wanted to loose by when. Now I feel much happier that regardless of how slowly I might be getting there, I am getting there, and will more likely stay there than if I shed it all. As you mentioned, crash dieting only means you go back to 'normal' again.

You are pretty much the same weight as I was when I started, and I've lost about 7kg, with another 7 or so to go. Maybe 8-9. It HAS been slow, but, it's a huge learning curve listening to you body and making so many lifestyle changes. It's more about the why, than the when :)

Good luck, and hope to see you around the forum, I couldn't of lost any weight without it! :)
