Calories

Hi all,

I have just started today and I have worked out my recommended daily calorie intake on NHS tool. So far today I have eaten 760 calories and according to the tool I still need to have over 1000 to get my recommended amount. This seems like an awful lot and I'm not sure how to get that many calories in without eating things I shouldn't.

I've already eaten cereal, satsuma, wholemeal bread, avocado, tomatoes, cucumber, lambs lettuce, cottage cheese, apple juice, yoghurt and blueberries.

Do you think I am doing something wrong?

Thanks

Hello Fee29 and welcome to the weight loss forum ☺

The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you ☺ Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news ☺

With regards to your question about calories, it depends if 1760 is the lower or higher end of the range suggested. It is important to eat enough, and I'm guessing the portions you had were quite small? There doesn't seem to be a lot of protein for example. Also different people prefer to eat their meals at different times of the day, so if you like a larger hearty evening meal you could easily eat 600-800 ☺

I hope you are enjoying the forum ☺ you will notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you may have a 'Newbie' badge.

If you have any questions or would like a Newbie badge please just ask ☺

Best wishes

Anna

No you aren't doing it wrong 😀 It is a weird concept that many people have found really hard to work out including me. I had been regularly eating 1200 calories and losing nothing. I have been eating 1450 for 8 months and lost 1 1/2 stone. Weirdly you have to plan to eat this much healthily so weekly meal plans really help
