Flappy Ears...

When I was younger my mum always used to comment on my 'flappy ears'. Not because they were like Dumbo's but because I'd pick up snippets of conversations. At work people have been surprised that I've heard alarms going off or in the case of a certain guard - breaking wind in the kitchen!

On Saturday I went shopping for a few bits, but also to find a little something as an incentive to slim into. I'd popped into BHS and picked up a top and the flappy ears came into play. A poor man had obviously made the mistake of asking his partner what was wrong with her - bad move.

The said lady was obviously doing the same as me, and trying to find something which she liked and which fitted. The comment to her husband was that she'd lost four stone but was still a size 20.

My first thought was she's the same size as me. Then it was that she'd done well at losing so much weight. To be honest I wanted to grab her (nicely) and congratulate her on her success and to say what does it matter if you're only a size 20? I decided against this as she looked really upset and I didn't want to sound as though I'd been listening in on her conversation.

On hindsight, I wish I had spoken to the lady and suffered the consequences had there been any. After all, I wouldn't necessarily have seen her again. When you think of the number of people using this forum and the praise and support we've received from complete strangers. Maybe a face to face congratulations would have been received just as well?

Love your post...made me smile😀 I think I would of said something but very tricky to gauge how your congratulations would have been received. I was out shopping today for some smalls but having trouble with sizes 10-12 or 14-16 (need 12-14) chuffed to say that ... anyway, a lady next to me was also huffing and puffing having the same dilemma. We had a little chat over the knickers and she is also on a weight loss plan. I really recommend this site !!! Funny how everyone is effected by loosing weight and the trials of buying smaller sizes😀

It is funny how conversations start isn't it.  :-)

The last one we had was on Monday while my husband and I were trying out sofas in a couple of well known shops - glad I'm losing weight, because if I got any heavier, I'd never find my way out of them ?! I've never found so many sofas where you need a ladder to get up.

It's just a simple comment to your hubby of 'haven't they got anything firmer and more supportive?',  and you get a reply from a couple next to you asking if you were 'sinking too?' and so it goes from there......
