Hi Rob!

I just read your blog, it's extremely moving and you're been on quite a journey. You sound very determined, so I just want to wish you luck as you begin this adventure into weightloss. I would advise against trying any drastic or fad diets and try to stick to a well-balanced eating plan like the NHS 12 week plan. How is your mobility at the moment? you won't believe how much you may be capable of even without bariatric surgery (have you ever watched "Extreme Makeover Weightloss edition"? - you can find it on youtube).

Wishing you the best of luck and lots of success - we need you back in the classroom!

I live in the Ivory Coast and my Secondary School French gets me nowhere - good MFL teachers are had to find!!

As for mobility? Poor. To put it in one word! I struggle getting up the stairs (14 stairs - best part of 5 minutes). Also, unable to walk very far at all - I have to get the bus/ drive one stop to out town centre - which for a normal person would be a 5-10 minute wal I also have gout in both big toes which is very painful.

I barely fit through most doors and have to have a double bed to myself (which isn't great when you live with your girlfriend!)

I can no longer fit in the bath and even sitting on the loo causes problems.

I hope that once I have had surgery and lost weight and am in better general health I can start teaching again.
