Well done - Go for it! Drink lots of water and hold on in there. You will soon get used to eating fewer calories than you used to and it will feel normal.

Hunger passes and doesn't get worse. Have a drink and keep busy - go for a walk. I only had 500 calories on two non-consecutive days a week when I wanted to lose weight so I know what I'm talking about - I lost three stone in six months so now just do that one day a week. youtu.be/W9Aj6hRYg4A

Are you aiming to eat that amount every day? It's ok on an intermittent fasting plan, but probably too little for everyday. I think the lowest recommended for every day is 1200.

800 cals seems low? Have you checked your BMR calorie needs? Be guided by that rather than going hungry. Aim to feel as though you've eaten but not podged! Keep going. Starting is the worst bit.

We all need to start somewhere but you will find it nigh impossible to exist on 800 cals every day. Aim for slow weight loss 1-2 lbs a week is the healthy way to lose fat and minimise muscle loss. With slow weight loss you have a better chance of keeping the weight uou lost off. Good luck, you don't have to starve yourself, unless under medical supervision...

Don't cut calories, just cut out the rubbish ie processed food and drink. You will then cut out hidden or not so hidden sugar and fat. Don't get tempted by "healthy snacks" which are still a processed food. Try to stick as closely to fruit, veg, nuts and seeds and water and you won't go far wrong. You will stray and have bad days, that goes without saying. Have loads to eat with a salad, because of the fibre, it will take a while to eat, but it will fill you up. Do not skimp.

Read about the inflammatory effects of sugar and white flour products and that will start to help you see they are detrimental to your health. I have cleared up bursitis in my hip, that I had for 6 months, inflammation in my neck, jaw and face that had plagued me for some time and best of all, the sensitivity in my gum line that has caused me so much pain, sensitivity and discomfort for over 20 years. Along with the large amounts of money that I have paid out for prescriptions and dental treatment over the years. I feel as though I have won the health lottery. I put it down to cutting out sugar and white flour products, as far a possible and eating loads of fruit, veg, nuts and seeds. I am not a complete vegan, but I eat minimal meat.

I have also lost over 2 stone. I have added cycling to my routine and I love it. On a good day I will cycle 20 miles, when I have the time (it takes me 2 hours). I started cycling only 1.5 miles and have gradually increased when I feel that I can and want to. It is a good feeling, to not be in pain.

Yahoo to Google (and others) and access to information on health, disease and other related issues. We can now find out things for ourselves and not totally rely on doctors, who I am afraid to say are not very well informed when it comes to the health benefits of natural foods.

Read about the anti inflammatory foods, they are surprisingly cheap, accessible and already well known to most people, but maybe not as a really important food to eat each week and for some each day. I particularly added grapefruit each morning, a big salad at lunch, avocado and nuts at some stage. Loads of veg in the eve with pasta, salad, omelette etc. Good luck.

Go on the nhs bmi calculator and work out how many calories you need. Be honest about how active you are, and try the lower end of the calorie allowance they suggest. By counting calories you will learn about portion sizes and which foods are good value and which are not. Don't try to do it too fast and when you have a difficult week up your allowance within the suggested range they give you. As you lose weight you will have to recalculate your allowance and when you reach target keep counting so you know how many you need to maintain your weight. Don't think if you slip up you have blown it, either adjust the rest of the day or put it down to experience and keep going. It's important to record every item even veg and gravy and gum and drinks. You can use a calorie book or there are many apps for mobile phones. Some apps set very low targets then you are meant to en extras from exercise, personally I find this doesn't work as they are not accurate as to what you burn and I'm always guilty about eating the exercise calories. The nhs bmi calc and it's recommendations ate based on a consensus of medical opinion ion rather than fashionable fads. Good luck with your weight loss
