I have FMS and can't really move enough to burn many calories, can I lose 30 pounds by just calorie reduction? I have about 1200 a day.

Yes u can it may take a little longer. For me calories don't work. I follow the slimming world eating plan, try to move once every half an hour even that will help good luck x

Yes, you can. I have similar problems (most of every day is in bed) and in the past (the one previous occasion where I needed to and did deliberately try to lose weight) I did manage to do it without doing any significant calorie burning exercise (I did do some toning exercise when I could) but it is quite tough, and this time when I've been able to do more exercise it has been easier. I feel that even small steps can help even if they are not enough to really 'offset' your calorie intake in any way.

Yes, you can. Work out your TDEE and BMR figures here (thefastdiet.co.uk/how-many-... and make sure you stay under your BMR. If you then eat one quarter of those calories on two non-consecutive days a week this is the famous 5:2 Diet and you can eat up to your TDEE on the other five days so you never feel deprived. I don't know what FMS is as I've googled and not come up with anything. If you can walk there are some excellent walking videos on YouTube by Leslie Sansone and if you could do a mile a day (only 15 minutes' exercise) you would burn calories.

FMS is FibroMyalgia Syndrome. I'm having the same problem with initials! BMR? TDEE? could'nt see what they meant on the link. I have heard of the 2:5 diet though, I will give it a go as I have lost 50lbs on 1200 calories a day, but can't seem to shift any more. I can walk a bit occasionally, but sometimes not for days, so any activity is very inconsistent.

Thanks for your reply.

On that link it actually explains every one of those terms as you read down the page. I lost two stone on the 5:2 Diet before I started doing any exercise at all and even a walk to the shops seemed too far. I then started exercising as losing the weight made me feel so much better and I then went on to lose another stone. Work out what your actual requirements are on that link as 1200 calories is very low and your body might need a bit of a kick to get it started again. It's generally 2,000 calories on normal days and a quarter of that on the two fasting days, but at 64 my TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) is only 1400 calories.

BMR is Basal Metabolic Rate :)

You don't need to exercise to lose weight, the majority of energy your body uses each day is to perform basic functions, such as keeping core temperature, breathing, cell repair etc. I lost over 10 stone before I did anything that could even be classed as exercise as I was most of the time during that period, incapacitated. Losing weight is 99% down to what you put in your mouth.
