Hi Kitty-cupcakes,

I think the NHS website recommends a healthy weight loss of between 1lb to 2 lb's per week - more than that would be too much. So if you aim to get your weight down to the 'healthy range of BMI 20 to 25' that means you don't have too much weight to lose. But I guess it's how you feel in yourself, and if you get to BMI 25 and think you feel fine then you could stop there, or you could lose more if you feel you'd like to get lower into the healthy range.

Good luck with the healthier eating regime - hope you enjoy it.

Thanks for your reply lowcal was just using the bmi 25 as a guide probley will aim for 23 and see if l need to to loose any more then. Need to get my excise head on and stay focused which is sometimes hard when you try to juggle work and family etc. My goal is to get fit and tone up and diet alone just doesn't do the trick

Hey, I've been using this NHS chart to figure out healthy weight (as it means more to me than a BMI number) nhs.uk/Livewell/healthy-liv...

I figured I need to lose about 3 stone :( BUT at 1llb-2llb a week I could be there in early 2014, which considering I've already started stocking up on a few xmas presents doesn't seem too far away!

Good luck!

The BMI number is only a rough guide. Your weight is affected by things like age, ethnic background and exercise - muscle weighs more than fat. A quick guide to whether or not you have lost enough weight is your waist measurement, it should be about half your height.
