PCOS trying to get pregnant

Hi everyone,

Hoping someone can help.

I'm 34 and just been diagnosed with PCOS, I have been told I have high male hormone.

Me and my partner have been trying to conceive for the last couple of months and with irregular periods it's not helping.

I have this month started trying the Clearblue ovulation kit which didn't not mirror my period app I have which helps you calculate when you are likely to ovulate.

I was told by my practitioner that if doesn't mean I can't conceive but they don't know whether I have ovulated.

I have gone for many blood test, and ultra sound which came back with PCOS. Is there something I can take to balance my hormones which then can help me regulate my period? Or is this wishful thinking?

I was TTC for 15 months, at 12 months the gynaecologist put me on Metformin ( it can have some horrible side effects). It's not a fertility drug but is used off label for PCOS..I am now 9 weeks pregnant 😊

Myself and my partner have been TTC for 9 months now and since then I have been diagnosed with PCOS. I had blood tests and scans and also got told that I have high testosterone. My doctor has advised they can’t do anything until we have been trying for a year. I have been using and app called ‘Peppy’ which is a place to talk to fertility nurses and was advised to take Inofolic Alpha from a website called Fertility Family. I’ve been taking it for a month so not 100% sure on the results of taking it yet but it’s supposed to help with ovulation etc. Might be worth looking into, not the cheapest but if it helps then it’s worth it. Good luck 💕

Thank you so much I have tried to download the app but it asks me about menopause I don't get the fertility option?

Anything to help me.I get a lot of usual discharge which does not help and I feel sickish today and I'm not sure if it's because of my hormonal changes.

I was 45 days last month and I will see how late I will be this month.

Worse thing is that both my ovaries have the pcos which is not ideal as you can't really rely on one. I don't know much about it as it's all new to me.

I have cut out sugar from my diet and also starting to have breakfast as I always skip breakfast and having salad for lunch and quite flexible with dinner. I was doing intermittent fasting which is said to not be good. Also I read today that carbs is not good for PCOS xx

I was diagnosed with PCOS in January at which point I hadn’t had a period for 4 months. Since the diagnosis and no advice or support from my doctor, I have been working hard to regulate my insulin by cutting out sugar where possible, eating wholewheat etc.

I would highly recommend Jessie Inchauspe The Glucose Revolution as there are a number of hacks to help do this and she mentions PCOS a lot . My last 2 cycles have been 30 days with ovulation 😊

Good job on doing this on your own! It can be soo tough. I have booked myself in with a local fertility clinic who said they will look into it and help boost my fertility.

It's like a acupuncture fertility so will give that a go x

I got diagnosed with PCOS last month finally, after knowing for quite a while something was wrong. Been TTC for 18 months now. Have been advised about diet etc, as opposed to Slimming world which I was trying with no luck.Been referred through to fertility for partner to get checked, appointment isn't until October.

Ive tracked with clear blue ovulation tests for 3 months and not had a positive yet.

Anyone have any other advice?

I know how frustrating it can't be.I went to a private fertility clinic yesterday who advised I have a few other hormonal balances which I need to sort before trying.

So I will be getting acupuncture today which is suppose to help.

Once I have had it I will then be having an appointment to have a thorough check and see if I need anything else.

I was told if my hormones are in-balanced it can cause a strain on the body and stress which can be the cause of us not conceiving.

I have tried clear blue and not successful so I feel your pain.

Hopefully after my appointment today I will be about to share my process with you all and if help you too! X

You could try the supplement myo-inositol, it has less horrible side effects than metformin.

Which brands work best? I find after taking them for a few weeks I've started to suffer from urine infection which I've never had before

Ovasitol by Theralogix, MyOva or Natures Best myo-inositol powder is more budget friendly.

I have tried MyOva and that didn't sit well. Will try the other alternatives. Thank you

I found I felt nauseous for a few days at the beginning but luckily it soon passed. No problem glad I could help

Hello, my periods have become much more regular since taking Metformin. Id ask your Dr about it and see how you find it. Side effects aren't too bad for me. There's a slow release option if needed too. Not trying to conceive at the moment so can't comment on that but my blood test showed I was ovulating. Best of luck.

That's great news! Ovulating is soo important. I've completely changed my diet and cut our sugar, diary, carbs and hoping to see if that makes a difference. I've lost weight and feel a lot more energetic and try and do a work out twice a week. I'm waiting to get a letter from the fertility clinic so I can start the next step x
