Just curious as to how you get prescribed clomid? My gynaecologist said to lose weight and then I'll be eligible for IVF but hasn't given me any other treatment options..

I was referred to fertility for clomid but not until I had had my tubes checked etc?

What is your BMI currently ?

Thanks for the reply! I'm not sure but it's definitely over 30, she said to lose 3 stone to get to BMI of 30.

They said they weren't going to check my tubes because they weren't giving me any treatment 🤷🏻‍♀️ I know they know best, it's just good to know what other people have experienced x

There is an excellent PCOS diet on Facebook which is free which was created by a pcos lady who was struggling to conceive. It is called PCOS Diet Support & 30 Day Challenge

Hey, am sure if you lose the weight you will be offered clomid first, but in order for clomid to work your BMI has to be lower. If clomid don't work you should be offered letrozole and if that don't work then its ovulation injections then ivf. Good luck x

Ah thank you, that's helpful. It's just difficult to get motivated when they don't explain what happens after I lose weight. I know I should have probably asked at the time but I just got a bit overwhelmed by it all. Thank you xx

Sorry for the big delay in replying. I completely know were your coming from about motivation. Iv known iv had pcos since 2008 and at the time was on the chubby side probably about 3 stone over weight for my age and height (NHS calculation) but years before I found out I had pcos I wasn't over weight. I never once fell pregnant before knowing so when the hospital said about losing weight I just couldn't get motivated, in my head losing the weight wasn't going to make me fall pregnant as it's never happened before. So fast forward to some years I'd lost the weight. Tried clomid then letrozole both didn't work so was advised to have SO & IUI but my BMI has to be under 29 so needed to lose a might more weight. Fast forward to 2019 lost the weight, so wanted to try letrozole 1 more time And it finally worked I started ovulating but now it's been put on hold due to covid-19... sorry for the essay. Sometimes it's good to hear someone else journey xx

Ah no need to apologise, it is really nice to hear other peoples experiences. Just wish there was an easier solution to it all! I was recommend myo-inositol and it did help restart my periods, but then I kept forgetting to take it 🙈 good luck with everything! Xx

Hi when I wanted to have a baby I went to gp to get a referrer for gynecologist but after they did an ultrasound gp forwarded my results to a gynecologist and that gynecologist referred me to a fertility specialist where I was put on fertility drug clomid/letrozole whatever doctor thinks it suits u... But referring u dirstly to ivf is something not right initially they need to put u on fertility drug for 3 months and if it doesn't work then 2 months and if it doesn't work then u need to check for any fallopian tubal blockage HSG... which not only checks for tubal blockage but also some cases opens any blocked tubes. If your tubes are fine then u should be put on fertility drug until u conceive. If u have any one blocked tube, u need do go for laparoscopy in which they check for your uterus shape, size, any condition of endometriosis, size of ovaries, if any cysts then they do ovarian drilling and then they come to a conclusion of what are the possible options for u to conceive. If any blockages then they wil clear it and if they can't then ivf might be option....
