After gathering information whilst working in care when I was 19 or 20 years old, I started to wonder for the first time if I had the one thing that would over take control of my adult life. I always had very funny period which came months apart and for a short amount of time. I never thought much as I was glad as a teenager not have a period and put it down to be constant weight changes ( I went from very unweighted to normal and I’m what I though at the time over weight. After checking this i actually wasent). After years of battle contraception symptoms such as hair loss to the point I woke up with my hair in the pillow as if it was cut off and stuck in by glue during the night to years of amenorrhea and bloated painful stomach and acne. Doctors were confused but after research I discovered that I should have not been on the depo injection for the frame of time I was. Despise the nurses comments I switch contraception and noticed a world wind of difference In myself . My lack of periods never sat well with me and I wanted to know why which after a very severe outbreak of acne and I mean literally to the point you would be shocked, that over night my skin went from Semi cleared to covered in boils ( I can post pictures). My partner at the times wanted to take me to A&E as he couldn’t believe it But I knew me and even though anxiety as I have never in my life witness an outbreak like this new it was just acne as it was me, so of course that was the answer ! I went back to the doctors in desperate hope and after years of preaching the same shit about not having periods and having oily skin and acne i the found out though a simple
Blood test before I say were very common to me due to years of unexplained anemia so plenty of time to catch whatever was wrong If tested for. I was referred for roaccutaine which cured acne which was sending me to the poinr of suicide as I felt like a complete monster. May I say that although this is a god dam miracle drug in itself it does screw with your mentality and you shouldn’t only take when under the correct support but hospital and social. Secondly i understood that my hormones were unbalanced which was why I was the way I was and the most changing comment I had was that I don’t ovulate. This one point Lead to my long term boyfriend leaving me qs even though he didn’t want kids at the time, he didn’t want pressure or complications (basically hazel )in the future as, as hell put it I wasn’t normal) this is something I have not resorted to family and friends. Since this fell that I need to declare rhwt I cannot conceive to each boyfriend as I would if I had bloody HIV. I want to start help groups for POCS. I know people don’t see it as that bad but nobody can really understand the psychological and relationships strains that you are giving and age limit or just our right restriction to conceiving. Although it’s been only 2 years since my diagnosis I see till cannot digest the information especially when I don’t know anyone who is going through what I am or who can relate .
