Hi guys

I've had pcos for just over two years now... When I was pregnant with my son all my facial hair disappeared and I lost 1 1/2 stone, now he's one I'm really struggling to loose the weight again and all my hair has grown back.... Any ideas what I can do??

I have PCOS and a low carb/paleo diet plus rather high intensity gym workouts work for me in regulating the symptoms. It is getting easier the longer you do it and the closer you are to your ideal weight, the beginning is really hard. So basically no grains, no potatoes (sweet potatoes are allowed), no rice, no bread, no sugar if avoidable. Is a pain, especially when eating out (hello salad...), but absolutely worth it. There are a lot of replacement low carb products available now (bread, pizza dough, ice cream etc) that make life tastier. About sugar replacements everybody seems to have different opinions. I eat them but some consider them bad for the guts and just go for honey, coconut sugar and dried fruit (in reasonable amounts) instead of refined sugar. Some people are successful with intermittent fasting instead. Don't lose hope, it will get easier on the way as the weight worsens the symptoms and getting rid of some of it will make getting rid of more weight easier. Oh and cheat days help in the beginning :) All the best!

Sometimes a kick-start into exercise is all you need to get back into a consistent flow. The beginning is usually tough as well as making the time.

I tried doing short exercises at home. A few things that helped me was dancing, Youtube and a fitness mat! I love to play music at home so I’d turn the speakers on and just dance. Youtube has so many choices of home workout routines! The fitness mat helps to get into core-workouts and strengthening. During the summer, I used to skip rope in the garden.

All of this helped me to build stamina and momentum to get back into exercise in a fun, easy way (for free!). Stay consistent and you could be surprised at the results

Hope this helps and best of luck!

Pregnancy can either reduce the hair or increase it, lucky you, I turned into a yeti when I was pregnant!!

They believe PCOS is hereditary so you would have been born with it, it is not really ovary related but an endocrine disorder - both my son and husband have it too.

theanswertopcos diet is the only diet I have lost weight on and maintained it pretty well for 10 years now. Noah was a toddler when I was doing it and was quite easy to just add a few extras to his diet while doing it.
