Hi all, I am 18, and was diagnosed with PCOS just over a week ago. I have periods every 2 to 3 months or longer, but these are extremely light and only last a few days. My right ovary is also polycystic. I am still awaiting my blood test, because I need to wait until my period starts, and it’s been over 3 months since my last one.

I have been given Lucette to help regulate my period, however have not been able to start this either as I need to wait for my cycle to begin again.

It also so happens that I was also diagnosed with anxiety and depression last week, so I’m having a fab time! (Or not)

I just wanted to say that it’s great to have a forum like this, where I can hear the stories of other brilliant women. If anyone has any general tips for dealing with PCOS symptoms, or any experiences with Lucette they can share, that would be amazing.

Be prepared for a lot of mood swings-but eventually it will be okay. If you can find someone to talk to about pcos and the mood swings that come with it it will help a lot

Hi there!

I got diagnosed in May this year when I was 17, after what felt like the worst year of my life. I got Glandular Fever in August which hit me badly and I was bedridden until December, I developed anemia and Raynaud’s syndrome, and my anxiety came back. I got put on Sertraline to help with the anxiety and now take 75mg per day plus 5mg of propranolol.

I suffered with irregular periods since getting my period age 13, sometimes only having a few per year. My moods were all over the place, I actually thought I had some kind of psychosis as I would become so aggressive.

I had an ultrasound in April which found 12 cysts on each ovary and blood tests which showed high androgen levels. My diagnosis was made on this.

I now am waiting to see the doctor again regarding referral to a gynaecologist as I need to get my ovulation pain sorted out as I’ve had to miss work because of it.

Life goes on, we’re lucky to be here, etc, but I know it can feel oh so crappy when you’re told about PCOS.

Hang in there,

Xx

Everything always seems to come at once doesn’t it? It’s quite relieving to know that we’re all dealing with things, and we’re all just doing our best to get on with it! Not that we really have a choice :)

I am the same, i am 18 and was diagnosed with PCOS a few months ago, as well as fatty liver. The issue for me is weight. It has got me down and its good to have this to talk to others. It has been going okay, i have appointments to see an endocrinologist and a dietition. Keep at the doctors if you need help. They will eventually do something
