Losing Weight Struggle with PCOS

Hi everyone. I'm a newbie. Been struggling for years now with my weight and PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) which made it even harder for me to lose weight. I've eaten small portions and went to the gym but seems like my weight is very hard to shed off. Any tips from anyone who has the same experience or might know anyone who succeeded in doing it. Let me know! Many thanks <3 #tryingtogetpregnant

Hi Sarah, I too had this issue until last year. I found the best thing for me was to cut out the carbs and sugar (as directed by my fertility consultant- may not work for everyone). I wasn’t too bothered about my fat intake but the combination of the two seemed to be working. I was also going to the gym max 3 times a week (some weeks none) though that didn’t last very long. I now just make sure I walk for about 20 minutes on my lunch breaks, just a casual stroll.I managed to lose 12kg since starting. The first few days were a nightmare due to the sugar withdrawal but I’m so glad I have managed to stick with it. I have started to slowly introduce carbs (just whole wheat pasta and the odd slice of bread here and there) but on the whole still carb free.

Worth trying for a month to see if it works- once you break the first few days it does get easier!! Good luck x

Thank you so much Doodle13. It's great tips that you've given. will make sure to follow your advice (12kg is amazing!) and hopefully i can get thru the sugar withdrawal and not cave in. Need all the luck i can get!

You do need to remember also that if we ate the RDA we would still put on 2lb a month compared to non pcos ladies so over a stone a year, so we do need to eat considerably less just to maintain our weight!

Will do. Though it's gonna be hard, and frustrating, I hope I won't give up.

I did the Keto diet so high fat low carb, didnt lose a massive amount of weight but lost 4 inches off my waist and 3 off my belly button (no exercise other than walking), also lost fat off my back but hadnt measured, less bulge under the bra straps!!

For me I hated keto but stuck with it for 4 months and actually now dont even fancy carbs like pasta, rice or bread, so I am still doing carb free but not high fat (I dont do low fat or low calorie stuff, just use less).

I have always found exercise seems to confuse weight loss for me, I think its a fine line between eating too little so storing and eating too much so either maintaining or gaining.

The biggest issue I think is maintaining the motivation as it is a bl**dy slow process for us to lose weight so we need to keep motivated and it can be very difficult some days especially if you have felt you have been good all week but then no weight loss!!! I often would then go awol and eat for england!!!
