How long do I need to be with an employers before I can take maternity leave, I am starting a new job in Dec I am desperate for a baby aged 41 in Dec I want to know how soon I can start trying?

I just copied this from another site:Statutory maternity pay (SMP) is a weekly payment from your employer. You'll only be able to claim it if: You've been working for the same employer without a break for at least 26 weeks. You can measure these 26 weeks against the end of the 15th week before the week your baby is due.

It is worth checking the policy at your firm as they may be more generous

Depends on the employer :) the NHS is six months onwards..(in addition to stat stuff).
