Ovulation kits

Hi, I am reading contradictory information as to if a opks are accurate for someone with pco. Sometimes I get a running 5 days of high fertility and then a peak result, but then other days I get negatives continually then a sudden peak result or just negatives. Are they accurate and I’m just not ovulating, or could I be ovulating but the tests don’t work for pco sufferers? Sorry if I’m waffling or not making sense I’m confusing myself 🤦🏻‍♀️

If your periods are regular then they can work but if they aren't then they can be very misleading- look at the fertilityfriends website as it advises what signs to look for too so do your temperature in conjunction with opks as it will show how accurate they are for your cycle.

My periods are regular l, just longer than the 28 day norm. Thank you I will check it out. I took my temp for 7 months and it did not match the norms in elevation and dips etc so I stopped taking it.

I was literally about to ask this! On a last month attempt at ttc naturally before referral..been looking for positive / negative stories!

My doc told me not to try them, but not sure if that was more in a “don’t stress yourself out” kind of way...!

My doctor told me that they would be accurate but she also told me there wasn’t a link between an under active thyroid and fertility, and I now found out there possibly is, so I’m not sure what to believe 😐

How long have you been ttc? Could always go back to your docs see what they say :)

I think I’ll try them next month and see what happens..I fancy a trial just out of interest..can let you know! Haha.

A year, had a miscarriage in June where they found cysts on my ovaries, was meant to sort an appointment for a second opinion today, you’ve just reminded me 👍🏼

Yeh give them a bash, suggest the clear blue on amazon (£17, on the high street they are £23+)

I’m sorry to hear about that. Keep plodding on - we will get there in the end :)

Thanks for that! Will give them a go! X

My GP told me there was no link between an underactive thyroid and fertility. My fertility consultant wrote to him to say:

A) redo the tests and focus on the TSH scores

B) prescribe levothyroxine as there is a link.

I used them and have only found them accurate since I’ve been on metformin. My advice is use them as a guide but I wouldn’t rely on them. I bought some cheap ones on amazon. £4 for 30 x

I've been hit and miss with these tests and would often get positive results for days. The doctors and nurses don't know why but just say not to worry (I've been ttc for 2 years I worry about everything now). I still use them but only as a guide and always get the cheap ones off amazon, it saves a fortune.
