When were the blood tests taken in your cycle?

They were taken 1 week before my period was due

Are they normal? I am worried

I think that is too late to check for pcos, blood tests vary throughout the cycle. Have you had other tests done for pcos e.g. scan, symptoms ?

So with these results as it was done 1 week before my period are they normal or to high?

I've had a pelvic ultrasound done that says I have multiple follicles on my ovaries but hasn't classed it as pcos so I'm very confused

The ratio is elevated so this suggests pcos - blood isnt my strong point though. If you have multiple follicles on your ovaries then this is classed as pcos so I am not sure why it hasnt been.

Oh really so can it be elevated due to other reasons? Is it elevated by a lot? I don't know the ratios? Yeah and she said cysts are classed as pcos not follicles? I'm so confused

they arent cysts they are follicles - goodness doesnt make you feel hopeful as so many dont really understand pcos !! I cant remember what the ratio should be but shouldnt be double like yours is

See this is why I don't know who to believe I asked her does multiple follicles means pcos and she said no. So is there someone besides a gyne that specializes in pcos? Is their a specific doctor?

So even though they were my results 1 week before my period they don't fall within the leuthral phrase I think it's called? What could another reason be as to why they are double?

gynae is not a pcos specialist and endocrinologist is.

Thanks I'll need to see one, would you say my results are really abnormal? It was done a week before my period I thought I fall under one of the 3 phrases?

I would google it, there is so much nowadays on pcos and blood results and when they should be done. It is not really my area of expertise - I never had bloods taken - only ever scanned and that was 20 odd years ago.

When do you recommend is the best time to check FSH and LH?

in reply to Crystalee

I know it's a month ago but for future reference the best time is day 3 of your cycle, that is the 3rd day of your period. LH and FSH levels should be similar, if the LH is double or even triple the FSH level then that can show PCOS although it is a symptom rather than the reason for it and there are other factors involved.

An endocrinologist is someone who's expertise is in the functioning of your endocrine system, this has to be in balance as everything is affected if something is wrong, the pituitary gland is pretty much the driver. Have your thyroid checked as this can throw everything out of balance, also check for pre-diabetes as extra insulin floating about can put everything out of sync, this is why inositol and metformin can help PCOS, as well as eating more healthily and losing weight of course xx
