I was vegetarian for years and then when I was at a health food shop I saw an advert saying if you are vegetarian you need to watch this. I watched it thinking it was going to confirm that by being vegetarian I was doing the right thing. I was shocked at how naive I had been regarding the dairy industry and a lot about this article (link below) sums up my thoughts before and after realising that giving up meat is just not enough. It was that video that made me become vegan and to this day I cannot even think about what I saw in that video over three years ago.

(Below is an article about how giving up meat is not enough, not the video I saw)

Same Here Ali, I became a vegetarian when I was fourteen years old after being force to sit through a double lession of watching a video in a slaughter house - i never got over that really and thought, as you did being vegetarian was the right thing to do, until a number of years later when I watched a documentary on all sorts of animal exploitation and realised that absolutely everything had to be looked in to, from diary to soap, those things still haunt me today

Best wishes

Debs

As a 40 year vegetarian, my own ignorance of the inherent and ubiquitous cruelties of the dairy industry astounds me to this day! Back in the 80's, in the early days I was vehemently against the veal industry. Little did I know the veal industry totally relied on the dairy industry, and so by consuming milk etc I was therefore supporting the veal industry.

I know exactly what you mean. I didn’t even realise they killed calves for us to drink the milk, I’m embarrassed to say that I used to think there was enough for everyone! πŸ™„ I think being vegan is my biggest achievement. At least when we knew better, we did better πŸ™‚πŸŒ±

I've read the article now Ali, I'm so glad I'm a Vegan; there is no way I could go back to have any animal products whatsoever. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you. I feel the same. Also it’s unnecessary more today than ever as there are so many accidentally vegan options with no animal products in. πŸ‘πŸ™‚

Totally agree as there are loads of biscuits, if you eat them, that are Vegan. πŸ˜€
