I feel like I ought to go to support the film - but not sure yet if I want to see the upsetting images, will see how I feel on the day

Hi Andy,

I support these documentaries but can't watch it as I'm highly emotional😪 Couldn't watch Earthlings either. This awful market system needs to go down as they only care about their profit. Another world is possible💜

I was traumatised by some graphic movies. I guess they are deliberately made to shock you into the raw reality that we are not used to. But if that's the reality, we cannot pretend that these things never happened or won't be happening again. But I dislike watching people or poor animals, suffering, either. Nobody does unless you have no emotional intelligence.

I would like to support the film but I can’t watch things like this. I find it too hard to get the images out of my mind afterwards. I hope it switches people on to waking up and seeing what’s really going on.

I am not too far from the abattoir. They have been very busy. I wonder if they have some sort of "shipping" season. I heard sheep making a lot of loud noise you can get to hear. They sound they are upset and know or they sense something is up.

Did you watch the documentary? I whizzed through the trailer skipping bits until I saw the mother cow chasing the calves being driven away and I couldn’t take any more. It’s all so sad. Why don’t people get it!

I guess average people wouldn't make the connection between the cute, soft little lamb they patted in a farm and the "slice of meat" packaged in plastic, looking "delicious" in the supermarket/farm shop shelf on their way home, thinking, that looks "tasty" for this evening. They might do but I can't explain myself. If I mention this, I would be chastised with "don't overthink!"

I know what you mean. Someone said to me in the week that people need to drink milk to use it up as there is so much of it. So ridiculous! I said the only reason the milk is there is because the calf has been killed and I could tell by his face he hadn’t made the connection. I used to pretend to understand people’s views on why they eat animals etc and not get cross but now it winds me up so quickly is must be quite apparent haha! 😡

It's just so sad.

How did it go? Did you watch it, Andy?

I needed a whisky afterwards. As the film started I honestly thought, "what the hell have I let myself in for!" That feeling did not go away afterwards and it is still with me now. One comment in the Q&A was that activists suffer PTSD. Of course they have to see many more hours of footage to select appropriate ones for the film. Chris Delforce the director said he had had his car trashed and many other things such as police at his door. So if all I needed was a whisky, then that is a small price to pay.

The film followed the earthlings approach, starting with pigs and then moving through each. What did I learn? I was not aware that all animals are kiled as babies or children. I became more aware of culling of animals that are deemed uneconomic, only the fittest surviving to slaughter.

They want a netflix release if that works. This round of premiers is to help existing vegans become motivated towards more activism. Yesterday in Oxford there was an event for activists in cornmarket. I could not face that event, too soon. But I will make future ones. This holocaust has to stop.

Oh dear. You did well to go though. I am ashamed to say I couldn’t watch it. Funny how some people can be so disturbed by what they see and others just shrug their shoulders. I wish I could be more active in my veganism but I also think of how many animals haven’t died in the last 2.1/2 years due to me. I went to a vegan festival in London a couple of years ago and I went to a talk about past life and reincarnated in which they said vegans have been put here to make the change that is needed, so that’s an interesting thought.

We need these positive thoughts.

Average people don't know...they simply think cute cows are making their lovely milk for them. If they knew...........

Until this thread, I didn't even know cloned "meat"/milk from cloned cows may well have been sneaked in.
