I'm starting Rituximab soon. Will I need someone at home with me after 1st infusion? Thanks anyone!

Thank you all. I've read that you can be quite poorly afterwards, but feel reassured now. Just joined this site - it looks more useful than most!

As far as I know RTX can make you feel a little unwell for a few days after the first infusion. Everyone seems to react differently but the majority of people who have had RTX seem to only have good things to say about it. I am sure other people with answer your question who have received RTX ....there are quite a few in this group.

take care

I agree that everyone reacts differently. I've been on it three times and each time is different. When my organs were failing it was harsher on me but now that I am stronger I have had almost no reaction to it. It really depends on your state of health. I monitor a support group for Cryoglobulinemia Vasculitis and so far I have never had any one say that they have had terrible reactions from it. Perhaps, some nausea, fatigue are to be expected along with loss of appetite unless you are given rituxan with high dose steroids. You know what happens with steroids. I actually can drive myself to my treatment and drive home because my general health is much more stable than previously. I feel fine to be left alone.

I hope this helps. Please let me know you you need any more support or answers. i can always go to my group on facebook.

Be well, in body, mind and spirit.

Thats so reassuring. Thank you so much. I have seen Rituximab listed as a chemotherapy drug, as it is also used to treat Non Hodgkins lymphoma. I was expecting to read severe reports and bad news!

Best Wishes.

Whatever makes YOU feel assured. Surely a family member or a close friend would be there for you. Please, also, ask your GP or consultant what to expect.

I agree everyone feels differently . In my own experience I simply felt a little tired with a peculiar taste in my mouth. Thankfully that's as bad as it got
