Hi all, I was diagnosed with this condition in my hands and was advised by a consultant in Rheumatology and Autoimmune Connective tissue disease, to start taking Hydroxychloroquine.

Not a lover of taking drugs after fighting for so long to get off them, does anyone also suffer with this condition and if so has this drug helped...after being left with side effects of taking steriods for so long im very cautious.

I was told this is not connected to Having vasculitis as well.

Thanks allx

Have you seen this:

and this much later article referring to the latest EULAR recommendation

where they suggest that hydroxychloroquine isn't recommended and why there are few clinical trials.

Have you tried Flexiseq?

It isn't cheap - but I have a lot of friends who swear by it and using it for their knees improved hand pain dramatically too - you have to wait for 10mins after applying it before getting up and washing your hands. It does act as an antiinflammatory.

Most chemists these days I think - there was a collaboration between Lloyds Pharmacy and ArthritisUK originally. It's even listed on Tesco online!
