ANA AND C-ANCA Positive?

Hi everyone.

For ref I'm 26 years old. For the last year I've had an eczema style rash that flares up and down - this initially seemed to come from a bug bite but I can't be certain. I do have sinus issues but around this time of year I always find myself with sinus headaches and sneezing, I have for years!

My haematologist ran a blood test for which my ANA came back high positive at 1:1600 and I also came back positive for C-ANCA.

I'm very confused about this as no further action seems to be being taken. I feel quite healthy within myself, the only symptoms the itchy eczema.

I'm really worried and anxious about this. Can anybody offer me any insight? I can't seem to find much info on both ANA and C-ANCA flagging up positive together.

ANA are the group of antinuclear antibodies produced by someone's immune system and can suggest the prescence of an autoimmune disease but you can also have a positive ANA and not have an autoimmune disease which makes it confusing.

My C - ANCA was positive along with a positive high PR3 count with very high CRP & ESR markers which indicated granulomatosis with polyangiitis ( Wegener Granulomatosis) but i had a heap of bad symptoms going on as well.

If you are worried about results see your GP or Haematologist to clarify things for you.

I realise you are feeling very confused and worried. No matter how accurate these blood tests may be, if you feel fine and healthy, it is important to live life as normal as possible. Believe me, so many of us with diagnosed vasculitis cannot function daily due to constant pain and fatigue. Hopefully you will find a good way (& ways) to help with your

itchy skin issue (eczema is often triggered by stress). Sometimes symptoms come and disappear. And doctors don't know everything and cannot predict everything either. The most important thing is how you feel and if you can function well in your life.

Don't stay too anxious as that will make things worse. Stress is the often triggers illness.

Best wishes.

Hi Lauren, I can't offer much insight but I too suffer with eczema, which appears to be brought on by a reaction to bug bites. In January this year I had a positive C-ANCA (negative mpo/pr3) and negative ANA. Earlier this month I visited the dental hospital for dry mouth and clicking jaw and the ANA test was repeated and I now have a weak positive result (1:100 speckled).

I suffer with raynauds, fibromyalgia and M.E. (chronic fatigue syndrome).

I would ask for a referral to a rheumatologist, as they have more specialist knowledge.

I am sure my GP is missing the bigger picture as he tends to focus on symptoms and test results in isolation so even though I feel I have an autoimmune condition the pieces haven't been put together yet. Time will tell lol feel free to keep in touch and I hope you/we have some answers soon!
