Diarrhoea

I inject 17.5mg of methotrexate weekly. One of the common side effects listed is diarrhoea. We all had a tummy bug about 3 weeks ago with diarrhoea and vomiting. I still have diarrhoea first thing in the mornings but am ok all day. Does anyone else suffer with diarrhoea from methotrexate?

My husband has WG (I always start my replies with that) and when he was on Meth, he always suffered as you are. He managed to cope with it and was happy that he wasn't bunged up instead. It stopped when the Meth stopped.

Hi Magnolia25, I don't know where my symptoms end and side effects start, but I have been suffering with bouts of diarrhoea and bloating (another unglamorous feature in my new life with WG) I don't take methotrexate but I'm on prednisolone and have just finished my chemo treatments. Despite this I still have managed to put on 10lbs in the last 2 months! I did mention it to the vasculitis nurse and she said as long as it wasn't severe or uncontrollable it was probably my medicines. Sometimes I feel like a big old smelly Labrador :-(. I hope you feel better soon.

Hi, Sorry WG is vasculitis wegeners granulomatis or GPA. I assumed too much. Take care

Hello yes similar to you had tummy bug I think on holiday but put it down to methotrexate ..... suggested that I come off it and waited for diarr to stop but as soon as I went back on to the methotrexate it started again.... also first thing in morning off it again.....

I too suffered dreadfully with diarrhoea whilst on Metho'. It went on for years. Sorry to sound negative but it's just the way it was. Very debilitating and the diarrhoea only stopped once I came off it.
