PCP Pneumonia prophylaxis choice.

After a terrible infection of pcp pneumonia Mums consultant has decided to take her off iv antibiotics, they have to remove her line and don't want to try canulating her again, so an oral antibiotic is required. She had haemolytic reactions to iv septrin (co-trimoxozle) which caused lots of problems but the consultant wants to put her back on it as a three times a week oral prophylaxis while closely monitoring blood tests. I have read on here that some take dapsone, can any of you please pass on your experiences with this situation, specially If you have suffered pcp pneumonia before. PCP Pneumonia makes other forms of pneumonia Mum had seem like a bad cold...
