This is quite old so you may have already seen it but I believe it's going viral at the moment...

It's a fascinating insight into a Doctor's pespective on chronic disease.

Excellent, as were the comments from patients at the end of the article. Ixchelkali had some very pertinent comments too.

Thanks for posting the link RichardE! :-)

Glad you found it interesting. Some of the comments are good too aren't they. Worth reading through.

Hi Richard,

Brilliant reading this. It mirrors much of my own experiences with doctors both with dealing with my wife's conditions and also with my vasculitis of date. I gave my GP a copy of the Route Map of Vasculitis. He was so pleased to have it as his knowledge on the subject was limited. As a result we can both work together with better understanding.

I also agree with the writer that consultants often omit to inform the primary care doctor as to their findings though this is improving. So I can understand the writer's comments.

I have a friend whose daughter is a GP. After my friend told her about my strange symptoms and diagnosis her daughter commented that she would find it 'really scary' if I was one of her patients. Thinking this comment through I learnt a lot, and have kept it in mind ever since. I've tried to stick with one of the doctors in our practice, so that she and I can learn together, and we both have some idea of what my 'normal' is.
