Blue badge is an automatic entitlement when on high rate mobility D.L.A as many will know however ,when just applying in isolation of this applicants should demonstrate an experience of discomfort and pain when mobilising and also be unable to walk more than 20 yards without stopping .Each L.A appear to have there own criteria but this is printed on the back of the forms which are globally printed .If there is doubt the l.a can contact G.P. with patients permission to clarify the circumstances .

I have just had my third one renewed without any problems. I believe it helps if you are in receipt of DLA or PIP?

I am in the process of renewing my blue badge, it is an automatic process when you are in receipt of higher rate DLA. Suffolk blue badge office are running behind in processing so my badge expired on the 6th June and I am awaiting my new one.

I have claimed a Blue Badge for 14 years or more, without any difficulties. I renew it every 3 years, claiming successfully from 2 councils over this period. I have a very multiple sclerosis form of vasculitis though, which means I sometimes have to use my own manual wheelchair, and always use at least one stick. Mobility is a major problem for me, every single day. I get the badge on discretionary grounds, because I do not claim (having been put off big style before I was diagnosed properly, and wanting to avoid the recurring stress which could be very bad for my vasculitis) qualifying DWP benefits. All I want day to day is my Blue Badge, and I have never had any difficulty claiming it. Even after the rules were recently tightened in Scotland re walking distance tested for.

I applied before they tighten up the rules. Renewing the badge is fairly straight forward and no problem. But I will have to renew late next year, so hope that the same still applies.

I do need the badge and get annoyed when you see people using them and then skipping or running away from their car. You can report people who abuse the badge, but I have not reported anyone. As I guess on a good day (whatever and whenever that is these days) I am not so in need of the badge.

I recently applied for badges after suffering with breathlessness. I received them promptly with no problems and even though I am getting better I still need them

Dear Susan,

It's nice to see a good 'Cross Section', or results, here. I know that it's 'early days, in terms of correlation, but it does seem that most people-who are entitled to a Blue Badge, are actually getting them. Or is this just Wishful Thinking?

Personally I found the process, quite 'painless'-I'm under Essex County Council. I only had to assure them that no 'substantial changes' had occurred, since my last Blue Badge was issued, provide a 'mug' shot and, after approval, pay the ten pound fee. I haven't physically received it yet, it doesn't expire until the end of July, but it is 'on it's way'.

Let's hope the system continues to work well.

Kind regards to John please.

I have just received my new Blue Badge. It is not valid until the end of July, when my current one runs out.

Worked for me. I'm so glad of it. It makes a massive difference to my life.

I had, absolutely No Trouble, with my recent renewal. This might well be because, of all the Support, that I received though. I live in 'Supported Living', my Consultant has also given his Support and, the Assessment 'They' did Last Time, is probably still On File. I got a Bus Pass Renewal, including a 'Plus One', for similar reasons- I'm sure.

The more 'Evidence' that, you can, provide the better. If I can 'Be Of Assistance', to anyone, please DO contact me.
