Eliquis and surgery
I will have to go off my Eliquis for several days prior to having surgery on one of my eyes. I am terrified that I may go into AF while off it. Has anyone had to go off their anticoagulant for surgery and had AF without it causing a stroke?

Tired weak hips when walking - is it still Pmr
Hi, I'm feeling despondent as it seems that I can walk less and less and I don't know what's wrong.I've been on 1mg, trying to get off for over a year. I have no pain except when I do sustained walking. It kicks in after about 3 minutes. Tired, aching hips and lower back and I have to stop. I've got

DVT Pain moved leg
Hi My right leg was scanned for DVT as it was swollen. My left leg had had some pains but they ignored it cos it wasn’t swollen. I’ve now been on apixaban for 5 weeks and my right leg is still a bit swollen but pain wise is fine as long as I don’t do long or fast walks. My left leg is now very painful

A&E Drama! DVT and Anticoagulants!
What a week. Lap on Monday. Six hours at A&E yesterday for suspected DVT and to rule out PE. Given anticoagulants. Then paramedics called out today because my period started and I was just gushing all night and writhing and sweating in pain. Partner was so worried. Turns out there's not much literature

Pradaxa. Benefits and problems
Been on Pradaxa since 2016. Seems to do the job, but having started on 150mg found that bleeding from the anus was very unpleasant. The doctor reduced the dose to 110mg and that solved the problem. Taking the tablet gave me a lot of wind, but drinking plenty of water solved that. Pradaxa terrifies dentists

Out of the blue fast falling platelets. CLL and ITP since long. By pass surgery of heart one year ago.
Troublesome ITP since 9 years. Past 6 months platelets has finally been stable, treated with Revolade (Eltrombopag) 25 mg and low dose Prednisolone. In January one year ago, two of my clogged arteries in heart had a by pass surgery. Survived serious complications. Slow heart rehabilitation. Was looking

Open heart surgery
I had my first meeting with the surgical team at Papworth yesterday . I’m now pencilled in for an aortic valve replacement in June. We discussed my AF , the effects of surgery on episodes after and anticoagulants . Interestingly they stated that oral anticoagulants reduce the risk of stroke by 60/70%

Apixaban
I wonder if there is anyone here who is over 80, weighs less than 55kg and is on Apixaban? I was on warfarin but due to my INR being very unstable and also my forgetting to take it sometimes, my cardiologist switched me to Apixaban which I found a great improvement in that there were no more diet restrictions
