ALBUTEROL INHALERS

Has anyone ever experienced or known of anyone who has experienced complaints of ventolin inhaler not working, but states that pro air works? I was told by a pharmacist to compare the list of inactive ingredients. I haven't had a chance to do that yet, just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem. TIA

Only inhaler that ever worked for me was Primatene Mist!

I have. They. took some chemical out of it to save the environment.

chloroflurocarbons they took out cause they "deplete the ozone layer" what i say is fuk the ozone layer i need air

Hi! I'm new to this feed but I have asthma and I am a Pediatric Asthma Care Manager. All the inhalers changed from CFC's to HFA more than 5 years ago. That shouldn't be the change you are seeing currently. Each time our organization changes from one to another (usually money driven) there are people who say the last one worked better. We went from Ventolin to Pro-air years ago and there were complaints. Recently we have gone back to Ventolin and there are complaints. All of these are with HFA formulations. I think each formulation is a bit different and takes a bit to acclimate. Make sure you use a spacer to put most of the medication where you want it. Most adult providers do not prescribe them and everyone should use them. We all need as much medicine as we can get where we want it and spacers help with that. Also, more importantly, if you're not in control with a preventor medication (Usually an inhaled cortico-steroid) you are fighting your asthma with a medication that only lasts 4 hours, and doesn't do anything for the swelling in your lungs. Very few asthmatics these days have only a rescue medication which is what both ventolin and pro-air are.

Actually I've experienced that problem with Apo-salvent inhaler & nebs. It's supposed to b a generic for Ventolin inhaler / nebs but there is something in it that results in my having a severe asthma attack to the Apo-salvent!

The ER doc told me not to take Apo-salvent again (after it was given to me in ER to tx the asthma component of an anaphylactic reaction) as did my respirologist & he even took the added step of informing Medic Alert so it could b permanently recorded!

I take Ventolin and it works great for me. I also uses symbircort and spirivia i used to use pro air but everybody different. I also uses a chamber so it gets to my lungs quicker
