Has anyone had nasal turbinate reduction surgery? If so, how effective was it in helping you breathe better through your nose? Also, anything else on this topic would be much appreciated. Thank you and God Bless.

Hi panic - sorry that I have not had this. I didn't want you to go without any answers at all though. Here's hoping you find some answers to your question...

Hi. I just joined a couple weeks ago. I was reading your different posts and I can so relate.I hope that today you are doing better. I know for me some days are better then others. If I can just stay in the present I will have a great day. I let my thoughts get away from me a lot especially when under a lot of stress. Today is not a good day. But I will push on and see what tomorrow brings.

Hi Panic,

Sorry to the delayed reply.

I had 2 procedures in the 1970s in the UK.

First was reduction of the turbinates using acid.

Second was trimming of turbinate using knifes

Neither of which helped much!

I said that I wouldn't have a third op, due to the pain when the packing was being removed. Felt like I was having my brain removed through my nose!

So here we are 40 years on. I am due to have another op in November, to include straightening of the septum and reduction of the turbinates again. I'm hoping that this time will be better due to advances in in technology.

Have you had any thing done yet? Or have you found a long term medication that works without any detrimental effects?

I've tried most with no positive outcome. In fact the white clay that you spray causes an allergy of it's own! The only thing that helps is "Otrovine" trade name, but you should only use this for a few days.

Regards

Gareth
