Anyone else struggle with depression???

Yes. I was recently diagnosed with adult onset type 1 diabetes as a side effect of chemotherapy. So the treatment for one life-threatening disease has given me the added bonus of a lifetime chronic illness. Over the past 3 years I've had to do some serious mourning for the life I *lost* to the cancer in terms of both quality and quantity. The diabetes is yet another level of loss and adjustment which is still difficult and immediate to me. I did seek some counseling recently b/c I was having trouble dealing emotionally, and will get more as needed. I'm in a slightly better place now, about 4 months down the road, but I'm still getting over the initial shock of it and get emotional frequently. It is so d@mn hard!! You are not alone!!

Yes. I was treated for depression for 20 years before they diagnosed me with bipolar disorder. I'm currently in weaning down one med and increasing another to take its place. Not a good thing right now but they believe the med is causing too many side effects.

My depression tends to be tearful over unimportant things. Like a sad movie. Or dealing with people who are suffering. How are you dealing with depression?
