Eat or not before a blood sugar test?

Just had a letter from GP and she says that I might be pre-diabetic and to have another blood test. Reading was 42 mg/dL (I am in UK).

She said that I don't need a fasting test. When is the best time to take the test, before or after food, etc?

Thanks.

42mg/dl makes no sense. That's way BELOW normal. You should check that number. Also, the UK does not use that unit of measure (mg/dl). That's only used in the US

You wouldnt be walking around with numbers that low.

FASTING reference mumbers are 60 to 100.

100 to 140 is pre diabetic. Above 140 is diabetic thats hyperglycimic. Below 60 is hypoclycimic.

Thank you gpkk. I am new to diabetic stuff, so I have no idea. I will look into it. Cheers.
