New Type 2 Diagnosis - swollen knees

Hi, I'm newly diagnosed with type 2 and quite shocked as I have been a veggie for many years and never thought I'd the one diagnosed.

My reading has dropped from 83 to approx 68 in 3 months after a complete change of my diet.

I'm currently suffering with swollen knees with the left being the most swollen and a little painful. Is this a symptom of the diabetes or is it something else?

I'm taking Metformin 500mg for past 2 weeks but nothing else.

Thanks
