Post menopause mast cell reactions and is there light at the end of the tunnel?

I wondered if mast cell reactions would reduce at some point post menopause and if anyone else found a way to control estrogen dominance to reduce the mast cell reactions?

What tests, if any, can I ask my GP to do?

Hi Crazymum, Good luck getting any tests. Although my reactions can be severe so was referred to allergist in QE Birmingham who tested for mastocytosis but not interested in any mast cell diagnosis as did not believe in such a thing I did however get my GP to prescribe ketorifen. I have found combinining this with low histamine diet and avoiding triggers I can mostly manage symptoms. I have started hrt too as having heart issues and osteopenia. I am hoping to see a specialist at some point but will prob have to go private and can't afford at present. Hope this helps.

Hi Crazymum,

I love menopause! My allergic reactions are greatly reduced and my asthma symptoms have improved too. The only thing that has changed is that the medications that give me anaphylaxis give me a reaction instantaneously. Heads up, though, estrogen dominance, late menopause, and obesity are risk factors for endometrial cancer, spotting after menopause is a sign.

I had terrible post menopausal mast cell activation issues as well as reactive hypoglycaemia , POTS , SIBO terrible stress reactions. Significant hypervigilence I could hardly manage any foods.

Now I pretty much eat what ai want except sweet things.

I had support from a Nutritionalist

Antifungals very very slow introduction of sodium cromoglycate I couldn’t tolerate antihistamines not ketotifen

I used

hypnotherapy

Accupuncture

homeopathy

shamanism

healers

constellation therapy

I made a really good recovery and have now leading a much better life with daily chi gong ( energy mastery practices to keep me calm in mind body and spirit plus HRT and supplements

Dr Seneveratne said I was one of the 4 worst patients he had seen my urine histamine was 230….

I’m looked after by Dr Lulsegged who is amazing generalist

Totally this is reversible … managing your stress response so important. Hypnotherapy saved my life.

I have found deep breathing settles. Massively struggling with tolerating many supplements, expecially B complex and B vitamins along with HRT. I am having positive responses to a tablespoon of Styrian pumpkin seed oil/EVO daily. Since starting this latter combo my sleep and body has dramatically changed. I shall definitely look into hypnotherapy/accupuncture.
