Hello everyone!

I am a new member here and was really happy to found this group.

I am 27 years old and of my kidneys failed due to HSP (Henoch Schonlein Purpura) April of last year.

I was on hemodialysis for a over year and I am super blessed to received a call from my Transplant Center back in July that they found a match for me.

I am in 2 months post transplant now, been doing good with labs and but still anxious with the Dos and Don’ts with this little bean.

Questions:

1. Is it okay to drink coffee daily or should i stop it?😶

2. Is it normal to still have pain with the incision site even now that its been 2months?

3. When it comes to traveling, is it okay to go other State with 3months post transplant?

4. I’m starting to have pain at the back of my head and neck for 3days now. My bp is normal.. is this something to address with my transplant team or its normal?

Thank you!

Congrats on your new kidney! I'll answer as best I can- I am 16 months post-transplant.

1. I have never been a coffee drinker, but I decreased my caffeine consumption from tea and soda on advice from my doctor. I would definitely ask your nephrologist.

2. Yes, that's normal, assuming it's not agonizing pain. I still have twinges more than a year later, and definitely had discomfort almost daily for the first 6 months or so.

3. I traveled from CO from MI 2 months after my transplant and had no issues, and I travel for my job and went back to flying regularly about 3-4 months post. That said, everybody is different, I would check with your nephrologist. I wear masks on the plane and carry Clorox wipes and wipe everything down before I sit.

4. I never had this and would certainly check with your doctor.

Thank you so much! I went to see my PCP and was told that its just probably a tension headache. Will observe it for 2days, if it’ll get worse or doesnt relieve by pai meds then they will have to take a closer look at the head and spine.

Good deal. I should have mentioned that if you do end up traveling, be careful to pay attention to your weight restrictions for lifting. My first trip, I was traveling with my spouse and he lifted my carry-on bags.
