Yes it's odd isn't it?

You think you should be over the moon about it and feeling great.. . But it doesn't happen straight away....

I'm 3 months post opp and still have down days where I think it will all go wrong......

If your operation site is still sore, check it out with your transplant team when you go to clinic, in sure they'll advise you and put your mind at rest..

Best of luck.....

Sorry that you are still sore. Some people heal much faster than others. I am a year and 4 months out from my second transplant. The soreness lasted at least as long as yours has. I wasn't able to return to normal physical activity for at least 2 months.

I also had a good deal of anxiety mostly because I had to drive almost 100 miles to have labs twice a week and I had to have two biopsies within the first two months.

I'm not trying to ease your anxiety with this story, rather show you how much less anxiety you are probably facing. One day I was sitting there getting my Bella in the infusion room at Emory and a doctor came up to me and said the results of my biopsy showed "acute rejection" and told me how I would have to be admitted to the hospital and receive IV medication for 7 days. They asked me if I had ever had such and such medication before when I had my first transplant when I was 7, because it is so powerful they have to limit the amount of times you can receive it in your entire life. I said "no."

I began making plans for someone to bring me a bag from home to stay in the hospital for a week. By the time my infusion was completed the doctor came back and said, "Mr. Smith I'm so sorry but those were not your biopsy results!" I was so relieved! She had to go and tell another Mr. Smith that he was going to be admitted for a week and received those IV drugs.

From someone who has been through this more than once, follow your doctor's orders, eat well, drink plenty of water daily, take your meds, keep track of your weight and blood pressure, keep all your appointments...that list of things we need to do at home everyday is enough in itself to bring anxiety. If you keep doing those things the anxiety will grow less and less.

I was swollen roughly that long, I'm almost 6 months post, and ever so often I still a slight discomfort, but my labs say I'm all good. Everybody heals differently.
