Eight years battling Graves’ disease and batting off endocrinologists willing me to have RAI or thyroidectomy neither of which I want as I don’t have any faith these options will cure the Graves’ disease but I’m back to endocrine on Thursday and I know they will pressure me to give them a difinative answer.

Any help or advice would be very welcome.

I was exactly the same. But I ended up getting a thyroidectomy and I've never been more mentally and physically stable. Having an overactive thyroid puts strain on your heart and I started having transient ischaemic attacks which are basically mini strokes. I would strongly advise you to consider surgery.

Scary, gosh never heard of those. Strangely enough I was at endocrine today and my endo said she thought I was doing well on carbimazole and T3 T4 both in range and it’ll take time for the tsh to come up. I asked was there anything on the horizon treatment wise, she said no. I asked should I consider thyroidectomy and she said let’s see how the next year goes and take it from there. Strange but I guess I’ll wait and see for a bit longer but if I have to make the decision it would be thyroidectomy over RAI for sure.
