Looks as though I have carpal tunnel syndrome as well as other nerve problems. Anybody know why we are more prone to these? Inflammation? Also why would it be worse the day after drinking alcohol? Dehydration? Sugar problems?

Why is carpal tunnel more common when you have a thyroid problem?
I agree with Shaws, inflammation due to a build up of mucin etc.
My experience... (we not medically qualified here just fellow Thyroid sufferers) - I have avoided bilateral carpal (wrist) and cubital (elbow) tunnel surgery (as I questioned having 'repetitive strain' in both sides, I asked myself really, both arms? and of course even after 2 lots of nerve conduction tests which were negative the surgeon wanted to operate anyway - conclusion don't go to a surgeon!) also I had pins & needles in legs too, as well as arms. (They reckoned my extra ribs were causing this at first - but didn't explain the later leg problems!) Of course Vit B12 deficiency can cause neuro stuff too, so worth getting that checked as well.
This was sorted by finding out I was low in VitD and supplemented - now I can wield a saucepan at any angle without pain! So surgeons watch out lol!
We really should have a poll to see who benefited from CT surgery or if it just came back anyway (we did on my extra ribs/TOS site - no it didn't help!) J x
Alcohol or Sugar? - I don't know, but I do find the first one makes me generally feel warmer and helps my neck pain. I don't do sugar (although perhaps Alcohol is that anyway!) Sometimes I take a vit B complex just in case, per Osteopath).
Surprised to ready this, just started on Carbrimazole six weeks ago and started getting pins and needles in hands, GP said it was nothing to do with medication and to do with computer - but been using one for a long time with no problems could it be medication?
