Very sore tongue

Have slightly swollen but very sore tongue. Also it's very dry and so sensitive now that eating is becoming a problem.

Does anyone know if this could be related to hyperthyroidism???

I have read that it is a symptom of vitamin b12 deficiency, have you ever had a b12 blood test?

Try Biotene mouthwash for a dry mouth, it does help. A small increase in thyroxine may also help. I researched this problem a few years ago & quite frankly there are so many reasons why one has this problem. See wrongdiagnosis.com/sym/sore... Are you on any medication that could have an adverse effect? Stress manifests in many ways & a sore mouth can be one result. Dental problems can also be a problem. Adverse drug reactions due to medication can be a problem. Try & remember when it first started & see if you can relate to any change that may have started the problem. Hope this helps Take care Sentinel

Thank you very much. Not on any medication. Seeing thyroid specialist next week. Will go on to wrongdiagnosis.com, thanks

It's common to have a swollen tongue in hypothyroidism but I've not had people come to me with sore tongues. I agree with Suze - check your B12 levels.
