It sounds to me like an Ace inhibitor, there are lots but I do not know this one. They do take a while to be at optimum but a month should make a big difference. Ace inhibitors are the normal choice for high BP but cardio`s go for the best one and GP`s the cheapest. If you have problems with, not working or side effects ,then go back to GP`s for another one . All my cardios and nephrologists have always preferred "Perinderpril". Make sure you have had your cholesterol checked. Sodium ( salt) is well down in the range Do not have too much salt, proved to strongly effect BP U`s and E`s kidney function. That you drink plenty of fluid, water good! Also that the thyroid is being correctly treated, TSH, T4 and Free T3, other tests too desirable, It will say on the packet what the drug is, or look on the WEB. All take about the same length of time to work.

Best wishes,

Jackie

Louise, That is lovely thank you. Fortunately no choice, rotten body and some terrible doctors. I now have learnt how ever nice, if I disagree and they make me very ill ,to dump them!

Love,

if your blood pressure is not 'under control' in a month there is something not right ie: you need the medication or its dose adjusted, please go back to the doctor who has put you on this medication x

also, just re-read your post and you say 'in this month' so maybe you started in April, even 2 weeks is long enough to go back if most of your readings are high or a few very high

Labetalol is usually a high BP drug they use when u are pregnant and swap you to a more effective one when u are not. I had preeclampsia when pregnant and was on labetalol and nifedipine, as soon as u had stopped breast feeding they changed me to perindopril as they said the first two are not as good.
