Is there a thyroid-related aspect to your question?

If this relates to thyroid symptom, I have this too, my mouth is always dry, sometimes but not always thirsty, but hate the thought of it affecting my breath so mouthwash 2/3 times a day to counteract, but this can make it dry too.

Insufficient saliva can certainly be due to thyroid problems. I suffered with this for years without ever realising the cause. Once diagnosed and adequately medicated for hypothyroidism, the problem sorted itself out. it's important to investigate this because it can severely affect gum / dental health.

There is also a condition called Sjogrens syndrome that can cause this.

Mouth washes contain fluoride and too much isn't good for anyone. Overactive thyroid used to be treated with fluoride to bring "everything" back to "normal".

There are many mouthwash products which are fluoride-free. They may be harder to find in shops but are readily obtainable from Internet sources.

I've never seen a fluoride free one but must admit that I've only ever checked in supermarkets.

Hi Make sure you have seen the results yourself ,with ranges! It could be Sjogrens syndrome but normally the first symptoms are eyes. It is under a specialist Rheumatologist. Sound to me that you are on the right track with diabetes. If you start drinking a glass of water ,then have t have another one straight away, common symptom. Most of the symptoms to start with are the same as thyroid disease as hormonal and autoimmune, you do not have to be fat, Falling asleep all the time and cold are normal. I am underweight! If it really is borderline, be sure to have anual tests, more if needed and go on the diabetic diet, Diebetes UK and USA equivalent. It is surprising, not much protein, or fruit, no grapes , no fruit drinks ( any sore ) lots of green potatoes ,not ordinary bread.

Best wishes,

Jackie

I had this for a good year or so before diagnosis - I was getting through so much water but i wasn't in anyway dehydrated or thirsty, I just drank because of the dry mouth. It meant bad sleep as I was always peeing in the night and waking up to drink. I was attached to a bottle and it used to really annoy some of my lecturers/teachers that I was always drinking during lessons.
