Well done and thank you.

Just wanted to thank ThyroidUk and the technical team for the great changes they have made recently to this site, and today I find that I am being either auto-corrected or am being warned, with little red lines everywhere, that my spelling is not at its best, which is a great addition for all us brain fog users who know that their spelling has gone to pot (I cant blame the brain fog as my spelling has always been appalling.lol).

So thanks again to everyone who is working so hard behind the scenes, which enables this site to cope with the amount of members it now has, and for continuing to improve and adjust the site thus making it even more user friendly than it already was.

Morning Moggie,

I think the red wiggly lines are being put there not by HU, but by Internet Explorer.

I updated IE on my laptop the other day (to release 10) and do now get spelling checker warnings like that! At last!!! Until now, Internet Explorer was the only major web browser which had not included a spelling checker.

I usually use Firefox Mozilla which has had a checker for so many years I tended to for that IE did not have it.

Hopefully that will nonetheless be a huge help for everyone - people writing and people reading. :-) :-)

O bother I thought HU had been beavering away a bit more than usual on our behalf, but never the less my message still stands - they keep this site running pretty well considering the amount of traffic it now has to handle and need to know that their efforts are appreciated.

Morning to you to Rod.

Quite true.

I expect you got IE 10 when you did Windows Updates recently (whether automatic or manually).

Sorry Rod I am a real numpty when it comes to computers and yes their was an update yesterday (I am using my works computer) but I didn't have a clue what it was all about. There was a page this morning trying to tell me exactly what it was about and how it has improved but, typical me, I just skipped over that bit and logged straight into this site, which I suppose is why I jumped to the wrong conclusion.

The little red lines and auto correction will definitely help lots on here like me who now find that sometimes that cant even spell the most simplest of words.

My spelling is reasonably good - but my typing tends towards rubbish (fats but with lots of mistakes). So spelling checkers are very helpful. So long as they do NOT change valid but unrecognised things into recognised but meaningful rubbish.

I am pretty sure I have had to add lots of thyroid-related words such as levothyroxine, liothyronine, GORD, ...

Will HU have to add things like that or will we? and how do you add them anyway? Is there some sort of "Idiots Guide" for this?

Please don't tell me that what I thought was going to help people on here might make it harder.

You. It is entirely on your machine. To begin with there is a spelling dictionary that was supplied by Microsoft. Anything not in there, but you want to be available, has to be added by you.

The whole thing is controlled entirely by you - when you type a word that goes red, right-click on it. One of the options is Add to dictionary. Click on that and the word is added and will never again be red!

Be careful not to add words that you have not checked carefully!

If you use different machines (e.g. at work and at home) you will have to add words on both machines.
