Dr.agreed to do a raft of blood tests before I start my Levo. to eliminate other poss. causes for my exhaustion.

Under symptoms Gp had put "TATT" which I interpret as doc. hasn't a clue. I have been telling her that for years that I was TATT.

Hi Usual good GP then! It is wrong but we normally have to fight for the right treatment. Doctors put that to show there ignorance, Ie they do not know what is wrong!

Make sure you are looked after properly, if not, insist on seeing an endo of your choice, not the GP`s!

TATT. I have Mild/Mod CFS, and an Underactive Thyroid, and have had for over 15 years now. But until say 18 months ago, I to get 3/4 weeks at a time when I felt really good. However, Im lucky now, if I get 3/4 days feeling good. 18 months ago about, I kept going to my GP because I had blood in my urine, and I had a bladder investigation at the Hospital, which wasn,t nice at all. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I have just been told by my GP, that my Kidney function is not right, and hasn,t been for the last two blood tests(which have been spread over 6 months), and Im really annoyed, that I have only been told recently, because, I am now thinking this has been the problem all along, and it,s not been investigated properly. I know my Thyroid is not right, and I have a follow up appointment with my Endo (great department at Countess of Chester) in July to see how Im getting on with my meds. But it just goes to show, that you have to keep pestering your GP if your TATT all the time, because as with me, there could be some underlying other health issue. Hope you get it sorted. Hi Kath l think that if you were to get your thyroid sorted that your kidney problems would maybe correct themselves. I also had kidneys not functioning properly with blood in the urine but it sorted itself out .

Interesting, also have blood 4+ in urine has been f0r many years but lesser. Also had test, as you say not pleeasent. Nothing found.

Have noticed that my eGfr test has dropped so these results should be interesting.

Well I'd say that the GP is good.... He/she has put that the symptom is 'Tired all the time' and therefore needs blood tests to find out what's wrong. They don't have a crystal ball. A bad GP would start treating without finding the cause, or would turn the patient away. TATT is a very real indication that something might be wrong.... Though if you've been visiting your GP for years with this symptom, then maybe they should have investigated sooner!

I've just been reading one of the articles on here shared by loulabel. A quick skim through shows how complex our bodies are, and why the Docs can't wave a magic wand.

I hope the blood tests pinpoint the problem and you are on your way to recovery Siskin.

Gp has needed lots of nagging before would do anything more than routine tests and always put my RA as the reason for tests. Thank you for good wishes.

If you have multiple aneamias eg Iron and B12 they will mask one another on blood tests, my gp agreed she was 'out of her depth'! and would make you very very TATT

Suggest you read up on B12 aneamia.

your info just. yet again , goes to prove the MAIN point of 99% of the blogs on this site-----HOW MANY G P 'S ACTUALLY ARE AWARE [ and just as important actually treat ] the underlying issues outside of the 'box' or indeed outside of the 'NORMAL' range-------[ possibly 1% of the remainder of the 99%=====if we are lucky ] in other words 0.01% of the norm-----sorry for going on and venting my spleen , but, I am certain that I am not the only one that has to suffer these fools/idiots /pillocks/total waste of spaces on a daily basis=====some could teach a jobsworth their job...

My Hg. blood test was just 0.2 in the range but that was not important. ugh.

Next blood test was out of range because the range had changed. When I queried this with GP I got the reply "that is not important, it was normal last time.. Come back in 3 months."

Has it always been this way or is it because of the internet and sites like these we are better educated and are seeing dos. for what a ot of them are. No brainers.

P.S. I have used the term pillock but am just going to google it to see where it emanates from.

I believe that it has only been this way [ because we are now aware of these situations] only since WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET PERTINANT INFORMATION....======and I think that the root of the definition of 'PILLOCK' emanates from the word E N D O C R Y N O L O G Y ------------also known as idiots [ in the main -----but certainly not all [ but most]--with the info on this site ] and yes we are getting far better educated than we ever were and we can and do question anything that does not make real sense just because the person saying it may have a better education than us=====that only works if the person actually knows what they are talking about through their mouths and NOT the place they sit on. !!!!!!!!

GPs used to listen to patients and treat on symptoms now they consult their computer screen and if you don't fit the definition of an illness then SOL! They are also very tied down by guidelines and rules that if they deviate they will be in trouble with the GMC and could loose their lovely salary and status. And now they can supply private services to the NHS and be involved in the process of choosing those services- that is just immoral! So when it all goes tits up (which cynics think is the hidden agenda in getting GPs to hold budgets) and the NHS is privatised they will still have their private income...can't loose!
