Had it done today. Consultant and registrar seemed very thorough
However they did say it was bulky, any ideas what this means?
It's also very tender on the side they said was bulky where they pressed with the probe, is this normal?
Got to wait a week for results to reach gp and should have blood results by then.
Thanks. Em x

I just wanted to reply and wish you well with your results, did they what would happen next?
Did they say it was a goitre or multinodular? If it is tender and/or causing problems you should have further tests.
My experience was a single nodule, and was told lots of folks have Thyroid nodules - nothing to worry about - then I had a Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA - didn't hurt) as it looked 'dodgy' they then recommended a partial thyroid op.
However this may not be the case for you, just mentioned it so you are aware of options.
Hi Mine is very enlarged with nodules. Normal procedure in that case is a biopsy by a radiologist, under ultra sound. They may not think you need one but ask. Also make sure you have a copy of the report to the GP, phone the consultant`s secretary if not sent one automatically. With autoimmune thyroid disease this is very common. If voice and swallowing not too bad then probably not too much to worry about.
