What will happen if you forget to take your thyroid tablets for a while.

Can it be detrimental to your health?

The answer is, in the extreme, it could be fatal. And it can be severely detrimental to health. In most cases the consequences would be much less serious but it is still a BAD IDEA.

Depends on what you mean by "a while".

Forgetting to take them occassionally wont do much harm, it takes weeks for it to leave your system, after which you will get ill again.

If youve not been taking them for a while, you would need to restart at a low dose and build it up again.

You will also find you most likely get sicker than you were before you started the first time.. You really dont want to be un-medicated, its not good.
